Hi Everyone! I hope you had an awesome weekend and you're ready for a new challenge on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. Our theme this week is Study/School Related. It's that time of year where the kiddos go back to school or college and Fall is just around the corner. I created a fun card showcasing one of Tim's Crazy Dogs. The poor little guy wasn't ready for summer fun to be over and it's back to the books for him. Below I show the steps I used to create the background for my card. Enjoy!
This is the last week for our guest designer, Simona Rebecchi from Ginny and the Sheep. It's been so fun to have her here with us on the challenge and see her amazing talent. Her creations are always so much fun. Stop by and check out her project for our last challenge of August.
Cut a 4-1/4" x 6-1/4 piece of Neenah Desert Storm card stock and stamp on the Tim Holtz Plaid background stamp in Simon Says Stamp Soft Navy ink using the Misti Tool. Set aside to dry.
Cut a 3-1/4" x 4-1/4" piece of Neenah Solar White 110 lb. card stock and with a mini ink blending tool apply Faded Jeans Distress Oxide.
Using the Tim Holtz Distress Sprayer, spritz on some water in large droplets combined with a light misted spray of water. Dab off excess water with a paper towel. Allow to completely dry.
Next, create a mixture of Fired Brick Oxide and water on a craft mat and dab card stock through the diluted oxide mixture. Dry each layer completely before dabbing the card stock through the mixture again.
Adhere the card stock with oxide ink onto the center of a 3-1/2" x 4-3/4" piece of navy blue card stock and adhere that panel onto the center of the plaid background.
Ink the edges of the plaid background with Simon Says Stamp Soft Navy ink using a mini ink blending tool.
Adhere that panel onto a 4-1/2' x 6-1/2" piece of navy card stock.
Stamp the pile of books from the Tim Holtz Schoolhouse Blueprint stamp set with Simon Says Stamp Intense Black ink onto Bristol watercolor paper.
Color image with Distress markers.
Cut image along the edges of the book bindings and pages and ink the edges with a black marker.
Stamp the surprised dog from the Tim Holtz Crazy Dog stamp set and color with Distress Markers. Cut out the dog with its coordinating die. I also stamped out another dog and cut the dimensional pieces that come in the die set to give the dog dimension. The eyes, eyebrows and collar are separate pieces colored and attached with 3d foam tape.
I cut out the sentiment, "Summer's Over!?!" from the Tim Holtz 3/4" Tall Alphanumeric Thinlits die set from Simon Says Stamp black card stock and adhered that to the top portion of the card at an angle.
To finish the card, I adhered the books to a black background created from card stock in the outline of the image. I adhered everything else and my card is done.
I hope you enjoyed seeing the process I used to create my card for the Study/School Related challenge and that you join us for this fun challenge by adding your project to Simon Says Stamp's Monday Challenge Blog for your chance to win a $50 gift voucher to their amazing store.
