Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - Masculine Featuring Darkroom Door Products

Welcome! I'm so happy you stopped by. This week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge our theme is to create something with a masculine theme. We're featuring Darkroom Door products and I've used two amazing stamp sets that I think you'll love, especially for the masculine look. Join me below to see how I created the background for my card and I hope you join us this week for all the fun.

Also, don't forget to check out our guest designer for the month of June, Anne Redfern. You're going to love her style and learn so many new and fun techniques. She amazing!

To create the background for the card, I swipe Fossilized Amber Distress Paint, Peeled Paint Distress Stain and Vintage Photo Distress Spray onto a craft sheet. I then spritz the three colors with water and pull a 4-7/8" x 6-7/8" piece of Neenah Solar White 110 lb. card stock through them to pick up the colors. I do this a couple of times, drying the first layer completely before moving onto the second layer.

Here you can see the background after pulling the card stock through all the colors twice. I spritz it with a little water to create some droplets for another layer of cool effects.

Next, I ink the edges with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink using a mini ink blending tool.

Using the Misti tool, I stamp on the Darkroom Door World Map background stamp on the entire piece.

I decide I want to create a map that looks very old and one that may have been burned around the edges at some point, so I tear the edges with my hands instead of a distress tool. By tearing the edges with my hands, this will result in a more distinct torn appearance.

I ink the torn edges with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink.

Next, I go over the tips of the edges with Black Soot Distress Ink and my background is done.

To create the airplane piece for the card, I stamp one of the vintage planes from the Darkroom Door Vintage Planes stamp set onto Neenah Desert Storm card stock and distress the edges with the Prima Distressing Tool.

I ink the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

Next, I go over the tips of the edges with Black Soot Distress Ink.

To complete the card, I adhere the background to a 5" x 7" piece of Bazzill Milkshake cardstock with a strip of corrugated textured card stock along the top. I add a piece of burlap ribbon where the two different card stocks meet and tie a not on the end of the ribbon. I adhere a Tim Holtz Loop Pin with the compass from the Tim Holtz Souvenir Adornment metal pieces onto the burlap ribbon. I place that entire panel onto a 5-1/4" x 7-1/4" piece of Simon Says Stamp Black card stock. I adhere the vintage plane using 3D foam tape and my sentiment is stamped onto one of the tags from the My Favorite Things Blueprints 2 die set and adhered that using a Tim Holtz Mini Paper Clip. This completes my card.

I hope you enjoyed seeing the process I used to create my masculine card featuring Darkroom Door stamps and that you join us for this fun challenge by adding your project to Simon Says Stamp's Monday Challenge Blog for your chance to win a $50 gift voucher to their amazing store.
