Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - Start Afresh Featuring Carabelle Studio

Hi Everyone! I hope you had an amazing Christmas break and that you're ready to begin another new challenge on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. This week our theme is, Start Afresh; to use something fresh out of the package, featuring Carabelle Studio products. I used a new stamp set called Dutch Tulips. It's a large stamp that features an entire scene but I only wanted to use part of the images on the stamp. I'll show you how to do this in the tutorial below.

For the first step in removing some of the images from the scene, I stamp the entire image onto Neenah Solar White 110 lb. card stock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

When the ink is dry, I cut away the raindrops from the rest of the scene.

To stamp only the raindrops, I cover the rest of the image with the cut out flower section of the stamped image.

I ink the raindrops with Memento Tuxedo Black ink over top of the cut out section. When I'm done inking the raindrops, I remove the paper and stamp the inked portion of the image.

Here you can see how this technique works. I have all I want of this image on my card.

I ink the bottom of the card with Simon Says Stamp Jellybean dye ink and the top portion with Simon Says Stamp Maliblue hybrid ink using Ranger mini ink blending tools.

I stamp another complete image because I want the card to have dimension. I fussy cut the tulips from the stamped image after coloring them. I used Copic markers YR68, Y38 and Y15 to color the tulips, and Copic markers G07, G05, G02 and G00 to color the leaves.

Here are the tulips all cut out of the original image.

I add Scotch 3D foam tape pieces to the back of the tulips in the large areas.

Before adding the tulips to the card, I place the stamp over the image on the card and trace the edge of the entire stamp with a pencil. I cut along the lines to get a whimsical edging around the image.

I add the tulips to the scene and ink the edges with Simon Says Stamp Aubrey Blue hybrid ink using a mini ink blending tool.

I create some enamel dots to add to the card using Ranger Enamel Accents in Cheese Puff and Lemon Twist. Before creating the dots, squeeze a little onto your craft sheet to remove any air bubbles. Now, squeeze some of the enamel accents onto the craft sheet by starting close to the sheet and squeezing until the dot is the size you want. When it's the correct size, pull upward as you release pressure on the bottle and let the liquid drip down as you pull away.

Here again is my completed card. I add some words from the Tim Holtz Small Talk sticker set and the Simon Says Stamp Hey Love die cut out of black and white cardstock. You will notice the word shower is not in the Small Talk sticker set but I cut away some letters from other words in the set to create the word shower. I cut a 6" x 8" piece of Bazzill Candy Corn cardstock for the base panel of the card and add some ribbon to the lower portion. I adhere the top panel to the bottom panel.

I hoped you enjoyed seeing the process I used to create my card. Please join us in all the fun and add your project to Simon Says Stamp's Monday Challenge Blog for your chance to win a $50 gift voucher to their amazing store.

  9. This is layering genius! And holy cow! You've got some mad Copic skills! I was also totally impressed at how well you used the enamel accents. I tried to make dots like yours, but mine looked more like weird little amoebas. I'll keep trying, thanks to your inspiration!
