Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - Home Decor Featuring Prima Marketing Products

Hi Everyone! Another Monday, another amazing challenge over on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog where we are featuring Prima Marketing products with a theme on, "Home Decor". Prima has some of the most amazing products in the paper craft industry. We all know about their beautiful flowers but they have so much more. Paper collections, embellishments and even inks, paints, mixed media embellishments and more will help you create some of the most beautiful mixed media projects, layouts and cards.

I chose to do my project using the Prima Tales of You and Me Collection.  This is a beautiful collection of romantic papers and embellishments. I like to make little plaques that I place around the house with inspiring quotes or quotes that remind me and my family of how we should treat others. A simple smile or a kind word to a stranger, friend or loved one can change their entire day. Here, I created a plaque out of white chipboard that I will put on an easel and display in our home to remind everyone that kind words really do fill hearts with love.

Below I show how I created the background for my plaque.

To create my background, I started by cutting a 5" x 8" piece of white chipboard for the base. I chose a patterned paper for my background from the Tales of You and Me 8x8 Paper Pad and cut it the same size as the chipboard. I chose another piece from the same collection and cut that to 3-1/2" x 7".

I adhered the rose paper to the chipboard using Ranger Multi Medium Matte. I distressed the second piece of patterned paper with a Prima Distressing Tool and tore the paper in random areas along the edge. I then rolled the torn edges with a Dina Wakley Paint Brush. I then inked the edges with Tea Dye Distress Ink.

I adhered the brown text patterned paper to the rose paper base and added some texture with a Crafter's Workshop Mini Gothic Romance 6x6 stencil and Prima Opaque Matte Modeling Paste.

After the modeling paste was completely dry, I applied Fossilized Amber, Walnut Stain and Vintage Photo Distress Markers and spritzed it with water to get the pigment moving. I gently rubbed the crayon into the stenciled image with my finger tips.

I cut a heart from one of the patterned papers in the collection choosing an area on the paper with flowers in the corner and script in the center. I then distressed and inked the edges.

Here, I chose some butterfly images from one of the patterned papers in the same collection and fussy cut them out with a Tim Holtz Scissors.

I printed my sentiment on my personal printer onto some cream colored card stock, cut out the sentiment and inked the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink. I added some Tales of You and Me Flowers, Prima Lace Trim and some Prima Tiny Junkyard Findings. My vine is from a Cherry Lynn Designs die which I cut apart and placed underneath the flowers. I inked the edges of the vine with Forest Moss Distress Ink.

I hope you enjoyed seeing how I put together my "Kind Words" plaque and that you'll join us in this fun challenge. Just for entering you could win a $50 gift voucher to Simon Says Stamp where you can find all of Prima's amazing products.
